Chardonnay from a gypsum quarry? Yes, really.

This comes from the hills of Sorni in Trentino, right at the foot of the Dolomites. The vineyards are planted on old gypsum quarries—yes, the white mineral rock used in plaster. Sounds strange, but it's exactly what makes this Chardonnay so striking. The stone gives it a backbone, a kind of electric minerality that cuts through the richness and keeps everything lifted and alive.

What makes it special?

Fermented and aged in wood, so there's weight and texture here—this isn't a lean, zippy Chardonnay. It's got body. But the gypsum soil keeps it honest: bright white flowers, a whisper of balsamic, and a mineral thread that runs through every sip. It's rich without being heavy, structured without being stiff. You get the elegance of the mountains and the depth of serious winemaking in one glass.

What to pair it with:

  • Creamy pasta (carbonara, cacio e pepe)
  • Grilled fish or scallops
  • Roast chicken with herbs
  • On its own, when you want a white wine with real presence

This is Chardonnay for people who think they've tasted it all.

Serve at 10–12°C | ~13% alcohol

The De Vigili family has been tied to winemaking in Trentino since the 19th century. Though wars and hardship interrupted the story, the estate was rebuilt with determination and guided by a philosophy that values quality over size.

Today the winery is led by Francesco De Vigili, who has given new life to the family tradition with a bold and contemporary vision. The cellar is imagined not only as a place of production but as a space of inclusion and gathering, where wine, art, and the beauty of the Dolomites come together.

With an eye for detail and a respect for history, De Vigili continues to craft wines that reflect both the land and the spirit of those who tend it, offering bottles with authenticity, personality, and character.

The vineyards of De Vigili are located in the Piana Rotaliana, one of Trentino’s most renowned wine-growing areas. Nestled between the Adige and Noce rivers and framed by the Dolomite rock walls of Mezzocorona and Mezzolombardo, this land has been shaped by glaciers and enriched with fertile soils of sand, silt, and Tonalite pebbles.

The climate is marked by striking contrasts: cold alpine winds meet warm currents rising from Lake Garda, creating wide day-night temperature shifts that bring both freshness and depth to the wines.

In this unique environment, Chardonnay and Teroldego thrive, producing mountain wines that are precise, mineral, and full of character — a true reflection of the Dolomites.
