Tonalite - Teroldego Rotaliano
Trentino
De Vigili
Teroldego
Teroldego is a different world compared to our Southern reds. It grows at the foot of the Dolomites, where the mountain air is sharp and the nights are cool. The World Atlas of Wine calls it 'one of Italy's great characters'—and they aren't exaggerating. It has an alpine brightness and elegance that feels alive in the glass. It’s a serious wine, but it has a lift that keeps it effortless.
You’ll get violets and wild mountain berries on the nose, but it’s the freshness on the palate that really stands out—it's almost electric. The tannins are silky, and the tonalite in the soil adds a savory, mineral finish that keeps you coming back. It’s got personality without trying too hard.
Pierluigi’s Note: This is the one I pour when I want to show people a side of Italy they don't expect. It’s elegant and surprisingly fresh. It works perfectly with roasted meats or aged cheeses. Serve it at 16–18°C.
